August 6, 2011 is the 20th birthday of the World Wide Web. It marks the anniversary of the day that Tim Berners-Lee formally unveiled his project to the world, launched the first web site and released the software needed to browse the web, run sites and edit hypertext.
And to celebrate, this site aims to assemble at least 1,000 cartoons celebrating the free and open web – every one published with a free license (GPL, Creative Commons or the equivalent).
